Camara Lundestad Joof

Camara Lundestad Joof (1988) is a Norwegian Gambian performance artist, playwright, and author. From 2020 to 2024, she’s the playwright in residence at the National Theatre of Norway, she’s been a council member of The Norwegian Arts council since 2019 and from the fall of 2024 Joof is the artistic director of Dramatikkens Hus (The Norwegian Centre for New Playwriting, or NCNP), the national development and resource center for new dramatic writing. 

Her debut book, I Talk about It All the Time (Eg snakkar om det heile tida, 2018), is an autobiographical essay on racism in Scandinavia. It has become part of the high school curriculum in Norway and is being taught at universities in Norway, Sweden, and the United States. It was nominated for the National Library Award in 2022 and will be published in the United States this summer at UW press.
